"Heartfelt Parenting"

Our forefathers typically raised children within supportive social networks, fostering a sense of belonging and security. In contrast, contemporary parenting can be isolating, leading to stress and anxiety for both parents and children.

In today’s world, there’s no shortage of advice on parenting. Self-help books crowd bookstore shelves, and online tips and strategies are just a click away. But despite the wealth of information available, modern parenting feels more challenging than ever. Social media has become a powerful influence on children, shaping their beliefs and behaviors in ways that were unimaginable in the past. The amount of information children encounter daily is overwhelming, and family structures have changed significantly—gone are the days when an entire village helped raise a child. Parents today wear multiple hats, balancing work, family, and the demands of modern life, all while trying to maintain a meaningful role in their children’s lives.

In my work with families, I highlight how important attachment is in the parent-child relationship. Our connections with caregivers and other adults play a key role in how our brains develop. Whether you’re a parent or a teenager, it’s essential to understand your early attachment experiences. By reflecting on your childhood—especially your relationship with your parents—you can help create a sense of security for yourself and your children. This understanding can lead to healthier relationships and emotional well-being for everyone.

Supporting Parents through the Challenges of Foster Care and Adoption

Children in foster care or adoption often come with a history of trauma, loss, and deep emotional wounds. They may struggle with feelings of abandonment, identity confusion, and mistrust—both in themselves and in others. As a parent or caregiver, navigating these emotional and behavioral challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, or attachment disorders can be overwhelming.

I work closely with parents to guide them through this complex journey, helping them foster a secure and nurturing attachment with their child. My personal experience with adoption and fostering gives me a unique understanding of the highs and lows of this journey—it can feel like a rollercoaster, but it is also deeply fulfilling and transformative.
